How do I make a normal Photo into a good Creative for Stock Photo website?

When I start to upload my photos to stock websites, it is difficult to sell pictures everyday. But once I have some experience, my photo which was Optimized for a micro stock website could been down load many times per day!

So I will share how to make a normal photo which is taken by random could into a well-sold file to stock website.

Here is a floor picture taken by random in a trip to a lake. You can download it by following link:

So, let’s start here.

Open the file of floor, We can find the color is not so ideal to meet requirement of stock’s customer. So I need to change the color first before I do other modification.

Use the Camera raw Filter to change the White Balance and other settings as you wish.

By double click on the layer to change the layer’s type.

Expand the canvas for the background.

Add a new layer.Make it under the layer of floor. And fill in a gradient. the 2 colors use in this tutorial are: #cfcfcf  and #ffffff.

Scale the floor like this or whatever you like.

Use Single Row Marquee Tool.

And put the section here.

Add new layer and Fill in whatever color you like. And open the style window

Now we get almost there.

Add a adjustment layer of Brightness/Contrast.  And click here:

Setting the brightness/contrast for the floor. And go into the mask layer, Using the brush tool to draw the gloss:
